Your Role

Zambia’s Senior Business Development Executive will be the commercial leader responsible for our growth and market dominance in the region. This is a strategic role that demands a focus on aggressively hunting new opportunities while providing deep, strategic leadership to our most critical accounts. The successful candidate will own the P&L for the territory, requiring expert navigation of Zambia’s unique regulatory and competitive landscape. The ideal candidate will be a sales professional who is able to build C-suite relationships, negotiate complex multi-stakeholder deals, and ensure operational excellence through seamless internal collaboration. This role carries inherent leadership responsibility, guiding junior team members and shaping our local commercial strategy. drive new revenue growth across EFT Corporation’s fintech and payments product portfolio and involves identifying and closing new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and delivering commercial success in key African markets.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Leadership & Commercial Target Ownership:

  • Develop and execute Zambia’s annual commercial strategy with full accountability for meeting and exceeding all pipeline, sales and revenue targets.
  • Provide commercial leadership and mentorship to the Junior Business development and account executive team
  • Act as EFT’s senior external representative in Zambia, building our brand and influence within the financial services ecosystem.
  • Serve as the ultimate point of escalation and relationship owner for key accounts, ensuring exceptional client retention and satisfaction.

Strategic Account Management & Revenue Expansion:

  • Balance new client acquisition with deep, strategic account management of our existing portfolio of key banks, fintechs, and merchants.
  • Protect and grow revenue from the installed base by proactively identifying and executing upsell and cross-sell initiatives (e.g., platform adoption, BIN sponsorship deals).
  • Serve as the ultimate point of escalation and relationship owner for key accounts, ensuring exceptional client retention and satisfaction.

Sales Performance & Revenue Growth:

  • Leverage and build upon proven experience in the Zambian fintech/payments landscape, including in-depth knowledge of key competitors, partners and network schemes.
  • Navigate Bank of Zambia (BoZ) regulations confidently, particularly concerning PSP/Switch licensing and compliance, ensuring all commercial activities are fully aligned.
  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder negotiations with clients, technology vendors, banking partners, and network schemes.

Operational Execution & Internal Collaboration:

  • Bridge sales and technical execution by coordinating between clients and internal teams to ensure successful project implementation.  
  • Employ data-driven pipeline management, utilising CRM tools to maintain pipeline hygiene, deliver accurate forecasts, and provide strategic insights to leadership.  
  • Collaborate effectively as an internal advocate across Finance, Legal, Technical, and Compliance teams to unblock deals, resolve client issues, and ensure smooth service delivery.  
  • Own the end-to-end commercial cycle, including proactive debtors' management to ensure timely collections, maintain cash flow, and resolve disputes.  

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales or marketing, economics or equivalent; an MBA is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in a sales/ business development role with a verifiable track record of not only meeting but consistently exceeding significant annual revenue targets.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive B2B sales, business development, and strategic account management experience within fintech, payments, or banking in Zambia.  
  • Demonstrated expertise in the Zambian market: proven network, understanding of BoZ regulatory environment, and knowledge of the local competitive and partner ecosystem.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft (MS) 365 and CRM software (e.g. HubSpot, Jira, Salesforce) for pipeline management and reporting.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at the C-suite level.  
  • Expertise in negotiating and closing complex, high-value deals and partnership agreements involving multiple stakeholders.  
  • Exceptional financial and business acumen, with experience managing account P&L and debtors.  
  • Commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to close complex deals with banks, PSPs, merchants, or financial institutions.
  • Solid understanding of the digital payments and embedded finance ecosystem.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Willingness to travel across Africa as required.
